You can see the actual post here, sharing tips on using the Tim Holtz distress marker that came with our kit this month.
This is my last layout to share for the month using the July Communication kit. As you can see, I used the marker in quite a few places. The journaling, dotted lines to mimic stitching on my pocket, and the stamped images. But I share a few more tips at SFTIO as well.
Also, for a great review and some cool projects created with the distress markers, check out a fun post by Tammy from her blog a few days ago. I really enjoyed it!
As for my layout, I just wanted to reminisce a little about how much I have always loved getting mail. And I have a few of my favorites in here. Wonderful letters from friends, a card from my mother-in-law, a special card from a friend after a miscarriage, a thank you note from my nephew, and an envelope from my sister-in-law with the stamp. You just have to wonder sometimes if mail will also become obsolete eventually. It kind of pushes me to want to send more physical mail :)
So there you have it! A page that expresses my love of "snail mail".
I also want to share a great find that was posted on the "Communication" board in the SFTIO community by Bernice. It is about"listening and hearing" and I found it to be pretty interesting
One more thing and then I will let you go! If you are looking for some fabulous challenges, Rachel has started to share the monthly kit challenges
here!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
I love getting mail too, even better if it's a package. LOL! Such a great idea for a topic and I love how you used a pocket to hold all of the materials!
ReplyDeleteI love to get snail mail too but I'm so bad about sending it myself. I can type just as fast as I think so email or notes on FB are my current way to communicate with family and friends. But I do still send cards out so that is something, right? I am working on a page right now full of letters from my pen pal growing up. :) Love that we can save these things in our scrapbooks.

ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love to get mail in the mail box. There is just something about opening the mail box and the opening that envelope.
Internet just isn't the same is it?
I love your layout and the topic that you've showcased. Its so much fun to get letters and cards in the mail, but I almost never do! I'm excited for the wedding, as I will get all the rsvp's in the mail!
ReplyDeleteI love that pocket on your page, Mary Jo! I used to make pockets on pages and this reminded me of that!
ReplyDeleteI love that you included actual things you have received in the mail. :)

Very cute idea! Isn't it funny how something that was the way of life has now become infrequent and almost quaint?
ReplyDeleteLove the pocket! These days our mailboxes seem to only hold junk mail. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat layout with a lot of heart and thought put into it. I love snail mail too. I confess that I used to send it ALL THE TIME. Now I hardly do (hangs head in shame).
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice reminder to get out those old letters and put them in our books to enjoy! I have some wonderful old love letters I need to do this with. Very special page!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea for a layout! You are right, most of the mail we get now is just bills and junk. A real letter is quite a treasure these days!
