Sharing my last Scrapbooking From the Inside Out layout for the month of August. For this layout, I chose a different way to "escape"...
I am going to type out the journaling because I am sure it will be hard to read. Since we just got a new computer, I do not have any older photos on here yet. I had to pull this one from the SFTIO site.
Journaling:
There are times in my day to day life when I feel a little overwhelmed. A little tired. A little restless. A little frustrated.
And there are times when I would just like to escape for awhile. Just get in my car and go to a hotel and stay by myself in the peace and quiet. Where no one is yelling "MOM" all day long in a whiny voice. Where no one is complaining about the food I cook. Or can't find the item they are looking for and are expecting me to pull it out of thin air.
And it's ok because I am human. So I come back to reality and realize that my family loves and needs me. Just as I love and need them. I am pretty essential to their everyday life! And that is a blessing. Something I am truly grateful for on a daily basis!
But every once in a while, on a particularly crazy day, you might see me eying my car from the doorway and wondering what would happen if I just got in and went for a little drive :)
Photo taken by my daughter while she was playing with the camera on my phone. I found it a few days later :)
This is probably one of the most real layouts I have done in a while. And it felt good :)
I actually used some pink Perfect Pearls and did a dry brushing technique, a stencil from the Crafter's Workshop and blue stamping ink. All which came in the August Escape kit. I am typically not much of a "mixed media" scrapper, but I had a lot of fun experimenting with it all :)
Also, bright pink is not a color I usually choose to scrap with. But in little doses and with that blue, I like it quite a bit :)
Have you scrapbooked about any difficult topics recently?
great job
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Mary Jo. There are some days I feel like running away from home. LOL! Good for you for being so real and for trying some techniques you don't usually use. The page looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. I feel the same way, some days are just harder than others. Wonderful layout!!
ReplyDeleteLove this! The journaling is real and truthful without being whiny, I think that's hard to pull off and you did it so well. Great design, love the colors. Inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really great layout and you are so not alone!
ReplyDeleteI love that your daughter took this picture without you knowing, but it worked so perfectly for this story. I completely understand. And I've only got AJ asking me where everything is or what I'm making for dinner (um seriously, I did not move the keys/stamps/bowls/soap on you. And the dinner menu board is right next to the stove!). I can imagine there will be a few days I will want to leave when I have kids too!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great picture!! I love that you scrapped about this! We ALL feel that way at times. Anybody says they don't.............they're not being honest.
ReplyDeleteGreat layout--I could have used an escape yesterday...I blew out the tire on my husbands truck--ripped a huge hole in it!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a special layout.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your real life journaling to this one.
Great photo your daughter took as well.
What an awesome layout. I love that your daughter took your picture without you knowing. My kids have done that on occasion. I have scrolled thru your blog. Love your scrap style.
ReplyDeleteFantastic layout Mary Jo! I love this. Sometimes that "real" journaling needs to come out and isn't it great that we scrapbookers have a place to put it? Love the techniques - you got all mixed media with this one! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay...you stole my thought! Ha! Goodness...this was so very touching and I would like to do the same a lot of times. I know this one will definitely be picked up for pubbed. Very real, awesome, and beautiful!
ReplyDeletethis is great! I do love a peace and quiet moment every now and then too! HAHA! Love how real it is. i do scrap a lot of personal subjects, but tend to hide the journaling. Love what you did here!
ReplyDeleteI am with you. I feel this way at times too. I love your page and that you shared it!!! Your family is blessed!
ReplyDeleteI love this layout and the journaling. I feel this way sometimes too. It's just a little overwhelming sometimes trying to do it all. Love your honesty here!!
ReplyDeleteAmen sister! I totally hear ya!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah...keeping it real! I have to get away sometimes, even if it's only to lock myself in the bathroom! lol
