I Was Going to Post More Photos From my Mexico Trip Today...

But I have been thinking a lot about what happened in Boston.
Back in December I wrote *This* post after the shootings in Newtown.
And I am seeing that quote going around Facebook again after the explosions at the Boston Marathon.
I am still at a loss for words as to why these things happen. But I find myself looking for the helpers.
And as I said before, it gives me hope.
My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this tragedy. And for people everywhere who once again have lost a little bit of faith and innocence.
A Facebook friend of mine's daughter was at the Boston marathon this year. She loves the Boston Marathon. And now it is forever changed for her. :(
I hate that evil and hatred and the need to hurt can steal so much from others.
And this is the time to turn our backs on evil and hatred and not let it have power over us.
So I am going to choose to look for the good and the love.

  1. It's a scary world and it's so easy to let the evil be first and foremost in our minds, isn't it? I'm finding it especially hard to deal with because of Alexa. What kind of world is she growing up in? I try to focus on the good, but sometimes it's not so easy. Hugs to you, Mary Jo!

  2. Stay positive Mary Jo- as someone who has lived in other parts of the world- we do not know anything about living a day to day life in fear. we live in THE best country in the world. i am positive that the terrible person (s) who did this will be found and prosecuted. stay positive!

  4. I've seen the quote around the internet, too. I'm thankful for the positive attitude is portrays, even in the midst of such tragedy and sorrow. I know I can't control bad things from happening, but I can control my thoughts and attitude, so I keep looking for the good. Not always easy.

  7. Very well said, MJ!! It is very sad to see what has happened in Boston and west TX.
My heart goes out to those who were there and those who were injured and the ones who lost their lives. I'm praying just like everyone else that no more lives are lost and that they find the 2 guys whose pictures have been shown on the news and online.
    TFS!

  8. Great post.
I have read this one before as well. And yes we have to look for the good instead of the bad. Sometimes it is hard to have a positive attitude when the innocent are involved. But we need to teach our children that there really is more good in this world than bad.

  9. Well said, Mary Jo. I just don't understand anyone who has to inflict violence on other people. It never ceases to amaze me to see all the folks running into the scene to help anyone they can. I hope that I have the calm presence of mind to be a helper if I'm ever in that kind of situation. I've been watching the news all day and at least these guys won't do any more harm.

  10. I love that quote- I had to tell that to my kids several times this week. It makes me sick. So we have to look for the good- for the amazing people who risk their lives daily to help others.

  12. This is a great post Mary Jo. This all makes me so sad and angry all at the same time. But I also love that quote from Mr. Rogers, he (and his mom) really provided a great perspective in times such as this.
