Well, changes already being made before the first month of 2014 is over. :)
I had a few revelations over the weekend.
And one thing I know is that besides Focus, another word that I am truly feeling will benefit me this year is Flexibility.
In a previous post, I mentioned that I would like Monday, Wednesday and Friday to be my regular days for blog posts. I think it's going to be more like Monday and Thursdays. In just this short period of time, I see that two days is a better fit for me. I'm not saying I won't throw in an extra day here and there. But I feel that two days is going to be perfect. :) So Mondays and Thursdays it is, with Thursday being my "Lists with Friends" day every other week. Twice a month instead of weekly.
So no list today.
I have also made the decision that I am not going to apply to any more design team calls.
I have never been a fan of the "calls". Too much stress. Too many people trying for very few spots.
I want to put my energy into other things.
So unless a manufacturer personally asks me, it looks like that goal is going to be on hold.
Who knows. Maybe someday I will catch a manufacturer's eye. There are definitely some that don't do calls, but hand pick their team members.
But at this moment, the time is not right.
What I do want to share today is this...
a photo I shared on Instagram. It's a little mini album I am making Mike for Valentine's Day.
We take a lot of selfies of the two of us , and I wanted to do something special with them. So I made a little 5x7 collage
and cut the photos apart so they would fit on the tags. I really do love having a printer that prints photos at home. I finally figured out why my photos were so streaky before. It had to do with my settings. I am looking forward to printing more here.
And just a little peek at the finished project because this is for his eyes only. :)
I can't wait to give it to him!
Erin liked it so much, she wants to make him one, too.
So I need to find a few photos of the two of them (which will be easy) plus some of my leftovers from the project...
I've got plenty of extras. This is my workspace after finishing Mike's album. :) I definitely have some cleaning up to do. But first I will let Erin make her little book!
I am also linking up this little mini over at Paper Issues for the "You Are Just My Type" issue!
If you have any projects that fit the theme, you can link up for a chance to win a $20 gift card to the store. Super easy! Just check out the link *Here*
Thanks for stopping by today.
And have a great weekend! :)

ReplyDeletei know scaling back was the BEST decision for me and my family. It is so nice. glad you are happy with your decision.
ReplyDeleteso super cute mini
Glad you are doing what works for you....I am fairly certain that is how you get back to loving to blog. Your little mini is wonderful and I am sure that Mike is going to love it...and the one from Erin! Happy Thursday and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think focus definitely applies to everything you've written above and kudos to you for recognizing that it's ok to make adjustments as needed! What a super sweet mini you've made and I'm sure Erin's will be as well. My workspace looks just like yours! :D
ReplyDeleteYour modified goals seem much more manageable, I wish I could follow your lead, I am getting so bogged down in blogging (which I love) that I have no time for /or am too tired to craft - and that is not good. Loving your mini album and how sweet of Erin to want to make one too! Anne xx
ReplyDeleteCute mini album! I think I need to sit down soon and evaluate my goals and such to make sure they're working as I wanted them to. I think it's definitely okay to evaluate and re-evaluate plans every once in awhile.
ReplyDeleteOh wow ~ I might steal uhhhhhh scraplift this idea. LOL I LOVE it!! Girl, flexibility is my word for the rest of my life. Haha
ReplyDeleteHey, I started a new blog after losing my last one. If you're not re-directed, the link is http://cherylndesignscreate.blogspot.com ~ I'd love for you to stop by. I lost ALL of my followers and I need you to find me again. :)
LOVE this idea! And I really love that Erin wants to make one for Mike too. That is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI think I might scraplift this idea too :) If you don't mind, of course!
Very cute tags! Two posts a week is plenty for me, too. Sometimes three, but that is not the rule.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute little album, Mary Jo!!
ReplyDeleteYour album is so special, I love it.
ReplyDeleteI think it is so sweet that Erin wants to make one as well ;)
As for blogging, do it because it brings you joy, not pressure. I am probably the only one that blogs daily, but this is something I get enormous pleasure in. When it feels like a job or a chore, I will then cut back.
I like to be asked to be on a DT as I know they like everything I have done and not just what ever it was that I had submitted.
Good for you for putting everything in perspective :)
My intention was to blog three days a week too, but it's been more like once or twice a week!! I absolutely love your mini book for Mike!! And that's so sweet Erin wants to make him one :)
ReplyDeleteYour mini is sooo pretty and you guys are sooo cute!!!!!! I love that you inspired your dd to make a mini too! Have a wonderful weekend!! :):) Evie
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Did you stitch that heart and the 2?!! So fun and stitching!!
ReplyDeleteLove your mini and I'm sure Mike will love it too!
IKWYM Im only blogging twice a week right now too! I havent submitted to any dts in 1.5 years so I'm finally submitting to one.
Love your album! what a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab weekend!
Same question on the stitching as Michelle, and what kind of printer? Your album is adorable and might steal. Love anytime you blog.....just glad you do!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!! And I love that you show your "after" workspace. I've started to giggle mid-project and take photos of the mess. I think it's hysterical how I can accomplish so much and then get it all put back away so quickly, and people think I never make a mess, LOL. I also am right there with you about the design team thing. For a few years, there was nothing I wanted more than to be on certain design teams, and put every creative muscle I had into my submissions. And not only did I never get picked, I never got so much as a blanket "thank you for applying" email back. I thought maybe my photo attachments were too large and didn't come through? I would wonder myself to death and "if only" they'd tell me what they liked or didn't like or what they were truly looking for. I would see the people that made it eventually, and wonder how I wasn't picked instead of a few of them. It made me sad, bitter, depressed. I finally just stopped. I had to. I had to just let it go, and I felt exactly like you - if someone WANTS me, they'll ask me. And that's that. It still makes me sad, like when CHA comes around and I see all the cute booths and wish I were there, helping promote those companies, but I get over it. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has felt that way. :)
ReplyDeleteW-wow! The stitched heart is incredible! I love it.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your project.
ReplyDeleteDo what you love. Support your decision. If you do what you love, you will get noticed. Enjoy why you do it and who you do it for.
Linked up a layout today! Yay!! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it!!
