Paper Issues: March Swag Bag

So I was going to post about the March Swag Bags available over at Paper Issues
but as of yesterday afternoon there were only 18 left out of 100.
Here is a peek at some of the things that are inside. The good news is that there may still be some available today. But if not there may also be some that go up in the shop after March 1st if any of the subscribers decide to pass this month.
The best way to make sure you can get one in the future is to subscribe. These little embellishment bags are $9.99 each. And with my discount code MARYJO, you can get 20% off on top of that. Here is the link to subscribe if you are interested - Swag Bag subscription.

So on Tuesday, I uploaded my layout from my post on Monday to the scrapbook gallery over at Two Peas in a Bucket and discovered yesterday that it had been pinned to Pinterest over 100 times!
I have never had that happen with any of my other layouts. And then I noticed that someone from 2p's had posted it to one of their Pinterest boards called "The Peas are So Inspiring". That was kind of fun and cool to know that I can be inspiring. :)
But then it made me think. I never would have known it was pinned there if I hadn't popped over there to see where all those pins were going. And now this layout is all over the place on Pinterest. Kind of eye opening how you just don't know where your photos are going to end up in cyberspace without your knowledge. :-O And truthfully, there is no way of knowing who is actually reading my blog unless they comment.
I find myself wanting to post less and less personal photos as a result sometimes.
I think I have definitely been more picky about what I am willing to post in the last year.

Just curious...what are your thoughts on how the internet has changed privacy?

  1. Congrats on having it pinned so many times!! I know the internet has changed over the years ... in fact one of my most used sayings is "My best friend is Google...if I want to know ANYTHING I just ask him" ... lol .. cause it's true, you want to know something, Google will tell you ... I don't hide anything on the internet (wellllllllll you know what I mean -- *wink*) ... as the way I see it, it will get there anyways -- almost everything is "public" knowledge now -- each county (at least in the states) has to report your home sale, so your address is out there -- our kids are growing up in a Social Media Society ... so they are posting everything, because that is their way of life now .... they don't know Polaroid cameras, hand held phones, record players like we had as kids ... their life completely revolves around the world wide web ...

    1. I know it really bothers me sometimes that our address, phone number and all that info is just one click away. We used to actually have our phone number private when I was a teacher.

  2. Those swag bags are really cute, but I don't think your discount gets 80% off? ;) Of course you're inspiring, Mary Jo, and I'm glad so many others think so too! You know I'm careful with what/how I post, even though 99% of the time it's probably being viewed/shared/pinned by well-intentioned people, sadly there are times when that isn't the case. On a lighter note, hope you have a great weekend ahead! :)

  5. Amazing swag bag!! Congrats on being pinned that many times!! :)
    Love your LO!!
I don't share to many pictures on facebook because of the privacy issues unfortunately facebook privacy isn't as good as FB claims. I have read several articles in the news about this. is a shame that people can ruin this for the rest of us. You never know about who might see it such as a sex offender ect so I'm very careful therefore that why I dont share lots of pictures of dd FB and pictures of our house ect.

    1. I know, Michelle. A lot of scrapbook friends I know have their Instagram account open, but I just can't switch to that and keep it private. I know I can "block" people but by then it's too late.

  6. I totally understand where you are coming from when it comes to the privacy, but on the other hand...how exciting that your layout has been pinned sooo many times. And yes, you are very inspiring...your layouts are beautiful and I love that you share them for your followers to admire!

  8. Hmm, you bring up an interesting point. Especially when it comes to Pinterest, because they really don't have any privacy policies. Anyone can belong and then they can Pin anything! At least with FB, IG and Twitter, even your blog, you can make your settings private if you choose to, but on the flip side it's so cool that we can share our work with each other and have it out there. What to do...

    1. Those are definitely the places I feel more comfortable sharing photos, Becky. (FB and Instagram) Because of the privacy settings. It's definitely a dilemma for me sometimes!
I think that's why I switched to more of a "scrapbook blog". Although my private blog is sadly neglected!

  9. well, it is surely worthy of pinning and reposting...I luv it! I do not share many personal photos at all, mostly of our sweet Boxer, Lexi. As much fun as I have with the internet, mainly because of my creating...it is something I am cautious of too. I am definitely not on FB, not a fan at all of it, I think we need to be careful and always inform others of things that do not seem right, I have done this many times and have aways been greatly thanked! Hope you have a fabby weekend!

    sparkle & shine *~*

    1. Fabulous layout...that is why it has been pinned so many times already.

I would love to post my scrapbook layouts...but my family does not like their photos on the internet. i have a couple I should take down from Two Peas that were posted B4 they tld me that!

DH's job (before he retired) was instrumental in that decision but my daughters both feel the same. My married daughter will let me show side views or back views if their faces are excluded...I need to learn how to blur faces and then I could post my layouts.
They are hugely protective as one of their friends Dad was a fellow who had pictures of kids on his computer. A grandpa who was at all the ball games and sports events, camping etc....taking photos of his grandkids and others! He went to jail!
They are even more protective now. Their children were not affected by him not had their photos taken but it made them realize that it can be anyone...any income level...any education level...you just never know!
Their friend does not have any relationship with him at all as he has two young daughters. Horrible situation.

  11. That looks like a fun kit!
It is exciting to see your work pinned :)
Totally agree with you about the net on certain areas.
I have just started to add my blog name to my project photos as I have noticed that they have been turning up in other places…which is fine as long as I'm asked or given credit…but that doesn't always happen.
As for personal, I did lessen the more personal stuff when I realized that relatives found my blog, that I had kept secret from them, lol.

  12. Congrats on having your layout so loved. It truly is inspiring!

I think people should use common sense when posting photos and information on the internet, I won't obsess about having people pin or share anything that I have knowingly made accessible to the public. But I also won't post or share embarrassing photos, stories, or information of an extremely personal nature. In short...basic caution without being paranoid!

  13. Your layouts are inspiring Mary Jo! I had one of my layouts pinned on Pinterest (it was published in Scrapbooks etc) and found its way to Pinterest. I was flattered :)

  16. That is really cool! Your layouts are always inspiring. :) I love it when I am looking through Pinterest feeds and find my layouts getting pinned. It's great for validation that people do like what you put out there. As for the Internet, I actually have something going on in my personal life now that I can't post about specifically because of privacy. It's a constant battle. You just never know who's looking and what they might do with that information. It's a strange world sometimes.

  17. Congratulations on the pins!!! I love when I see that a layout or craft or recipe of mine has been pinned (or repinned!) Its like, oh wow, people actually like what I do enough to save it?!

I am so with you about the internet and privacy. A few things have happened in my life recently to kind of drive home the idea that anyone can see what you post on line. I found out that some people I know in real life read my blog. I think its awesome that they do, and I'm really flattered. But I also realized that not everyone who reads comments!
