I totally get the blink of an eye bit...yours are looking so cute in the back to school wear!
Our teachers have been locked out by the Goverment since June. There is no end in sight.
There was a huge lawsuit regarding the last two times the government instituted a law ordering the teachers back to work and not allowing them to bargain. It has been won by the teachers and the judge ordered the government to pay 2 million back to the Teachers Federation and restore class sizes and language. The Goverment has filed an appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada... Public sentiment is 70% in favour of the teachers who have gone with a raise for so many years, and had to cope with hugh classroom sizes and special needs work without the benefit of enough help to do so.
Everywhere people are dropping off donuts and coffee and water bottles...honking in favour etc. There was a huge poll and it was so nice to see the 70 in favour of the teachers!
Guess this Grandma will be doing a bit of extra help!!! Daughter is sending them twice a week to a tutor and then I will help supervise the work on the other days. Daughter is job sharing now to have more time with her family so that helps too! She will continue to job share in the future as she has found the extra family time to be so important. Sorry for the long comment but i know you are a teacher too...
Wow, time flies! Hope that the first weeks of school are going well. We just had our first day yesterday, and it was great.
It looks like your kids wear school uniforms? Do they like it? Do you? I've heard from some parents that it makes things go much more smoothly in the morning, because the kids don't have to decide what to wear. I've never attended or taught at a school with uniforms, so I'm just curious about it.

I go back and forth on the uniforms. It really is a lot easier choice wise, but sometimes I'm glad when they have a dress down day :)
