WOYWW 170 and Craft Your Nest

Since I have done absolutely no real crafting since last week, but work space hasn't changed much. Seriously! Same page on there with just a few photos stuck down. Hoping to change that this week.
Since so many of you comment about how much you love the view from my windows, I thought I would share a few photos today of how that view came to be :)

My scrap office is an old remodeled sun porch off a back upstairs bedroom.
My husband literally knocked it down to the supports!
Floor and all! And you can kind of see why I call it my scrap treehouse. I literally do feel I am scrapbooking way up in that huge Magnolia tree that is in our backyard :)

And then he built it all back up again from scratch! These are the windows you usually see in my photos :)
It took thirteen months from start to finish with everything else we had going on. And believe me, I am forever grateful for all of the hard work he put into this room for me. I do not take it for granted one little bit.

So just a different perspective of my scrap space today :)
And the reason I am sharing this is for What's on your Workspace Wednesday. I have linked up with
Julia's blog, the stamping ground, where we share our work spaces with fabulous crafters all over the world :)

Now for my Wednesday challenge at Craft Your Nest, I am asking you to scrapbook a layout using a letter as your journaling. Plus, I have a little giveaway to go with if you participate. So if you are in need of a challenge, come on over! :)

Happy Wednesday!

  4. Love this! Now I have a better idea of how you really are up in the trees. We had a sunporch like that in one of our houses. Such a great retreat!

  5. Ahhh...now I see how your room seems so up-in-the-tree! I'm afraid I'd never get anything done with such a pretty nature view. I'd be watching the birds and squirrels, etc.

  6. I LOVE the way your room sits in the tree!!!! I know it's not ACTUALLY in there, but it does feel like it and those windows are just wonderful! You have a great space and a great spouse to create that for you!

  7. Fab, fab room - I'm a writer and my study (or 'scriptorium', as a fancy name!) is...my cupboard under the stairs. Dark, small and a little chilly! I'd love your view...but I mustn't be jealous! Have a fun WOYWW - Deb's Pen Pot #146

  12. Thanks for some history on your lovely tree house craft space!! It certainly turned the space into the best space in the house! Ah... to have a hubby who is handy! I don't need entire rooms built but if he could just fix a faucet or mend a fence.

  14. Love the story about your scrap room renovation. I really like WOYWW but how are you able to visit all those blogs and comment, there were 165 last time (I think)

    1. Honestly, I know I can't visit every single blog on WOYWW. And most of the participants know that and are the same. I kind of *get to know* some of the great women who join in. So I look through for all the names I recognize first. Then I go through and visit all the bloggers whose number ends with the same as mine that week. That way I usually get to know a few more. I would say I visit about thirty total each week.
      Definitely more manageable :)

  16. That is so very cool how your dh created this for you!!
Love how it turned out and what a great way to use the space!!
I have a L shaped desk too. I have a scrap space in a long walk in closet with a window that looks out my back yard but its a little smaller than your room since mine is long and not square. I have so much stuff in there now I dont scrap so I scrap at the dinning room table. I cant use any of the extra rooms in the house since its on the market.
    TFS!!

  17. WOW Mary Jo what a super treehouse and brilliant hubby for doing it for you (BJ wondering where her hubby could stick one up now - LOL). No actually I craft in my bedroom and it overlooks our back garden and we have a huge Magnolia tree just like yours. Really need to get back to scrapping as I am a few months behind right now too. Thanks for stopping by BJ#63

  18. Mary Jo, I enjoyed your post. I like seeing the full evolution of your scrap treehouse!! I love it. It is wonderful that your DH is so skilled and then made the decision to create your nest.
Thanks for stopping by my desk and leaving a nice post. We will have to share the joys of having more time with our kids in school this year. It's a dream for me amd I hope I can do it for a while. So many things I want to do with that time.

  20. Very cool space. Your husband is one handy man there -- it looks so great. Do you get the aroma from the magnolia tree when they are in bloom?

  23. What a cool room you have. It must have been a long process to have it all enclosed, but I'll bet it's your favorite place in the house.

Thanks for visiting my blog and the kind words.
