Happy Monday!

Sorry blog friends, that I have been MIA on blog visits the past several days! I ended up substitute teaching in a Kindergarten classroom on Friday (fun!) and then this past weekend was taken up with dance. Erin's dance recital to be exact! :)
So hard to get photos there! I did get a few cute group pics that I can't post here. And then I snapped this one real quick with my phone of her in the ballet costume. She also did a tap number and was in the finale. Her dance school has two shows on the same day with an hour break in between. I was able to sit in the audience for the first show with all of the grandparents, Mike and Evan. Then I stayed for the second show and volunteered to help out behind scenes. That was a real eye opener on how much work goes into putting on one of these dance recitals. :) But I really enjoyed it and loved the group that I worked with.

Needless to say, it was a super busy weekend here!
But I promise to come around and visit blogs today after I exercise and get things put back in order here from the weekend. :)

And you may remember this post here, where I talked about having to unclog the toilet at 11:30 pm on a school night. Last night I was fixing the drain on our tub! Of course it breaks after Mike leaves to go out of town. He talked me through it on FaceTime though around 10:45 last night even though I know he must have been so tired after his four hour drive.
That little lever was disconnected from the plug and Erin's bath water would not drain.
With the cordless screwdriver and pliers, I was able to remove the outer part and plug within. The tub drained and I reattached to outer part. But let's just say I did not mess with the plug. Mike is going to check it all out when he gets back. I am definitely feeling a sense of accomplishment today, and we make a great team! ;)

Hopefully I won't have any other home repair issues in the next few days to deal with before before he comes home though!

  3. I'm so sorry about the tub! You rock for fixing it - especially with all of those tools required! I'm not sure I would have been able to do that (okay, I know I wouldn't. Last time I used a hammer I dropped it and broke our tile floor!) You are awesome!!!

And I love Erin's dance recital dress. Lots of fond memories of dance recitals and costumes from when I was a kid!

  4. Well aren't you the clever one for fixing the drain! I am very impressed at your skill. Erin looks gorgeous in her little outfit, I love the colour. Your experience behind the scenes took me back many, many years, the staff and volunteers deserve huge kudos for all the work and effort they put into these things. Anne xx

  6. Erin is precious in her recital outfit and how great that you got to help out behind the scenes! Way to go on the plumbing. For me, that is one of the perks of renting....I just make a phone call and someone EVENTUALLY shows up. Luckily, so far nothing major has needs fixing.

  8. Good for you! I come from a family of strong women. women farmers, women horse trainers, women machinery operators...the list goes on.
My husband is not handy so I was the handy person in our house till my arthritis prevented me from continueing. Now we hire people but i have had my years of unpluging tubs and sinks, etc.

It is a good feeling of accomplishment to know that you can do anything you need to...with a little guidance!
    Well done, you!!!

  10. Erin looks adorable in her costume. It sounds like a fun time! Alexa's is coming up in a couple of weeks. She's in the opening number, tap, jazz, and lyrical, plus the closing number in two different shows. It will be a whirlwind of a day but I love seeing her do what she loves to do.

  13. Glad to hear that your sub job was fun. Looks like you could almost have a second career as a plumber, too. ;)

Erin's dance costume is really cute. Congratulations to her on her recital. It sounds like it was fun.

  14. Erin looks so beautiful :)
Sounds like you have been busy.
One of the first things I did when we bought our home was remove these plugs. We had them in the sink as well.
I like a strainer in my drain. We were always taking apart the drain pipe to take out the hair and gunk…gross.
I just take out the strainer and add an old fashion plug…so much easier.
I did some calking in our bathroom tonight ;)

When Chuck traveled for all those years, I got pretty good at fixing everything. Necessity is the best teacher, isn't it???
