WOYWW and My Perfect Escape!

It's What's On Your Work Space Wednesday, but at this time I can't show you what is on my work space. My current project is for a magazine and can't be seen until after it's published in September
But I really didn't want to miss out on visiting with everyone this week at WOYWW, so I decided I would share a layout that came about from the big mess I had on my counter last Wednesday.
It is the first of five layouts I created using the August Escape kit from Scrapbooking From the Inside Out.
What could be a better escape for me than books :) And that book paper in the kit by Cosmo Cricket is what inspired me. Plus the "once upon a time" piece I cut from another piece of paper in the kit. And those arrows are from this...

Dear Lizzy Neapolitan banner cut apart.
The rest of the design team gallery is here and inspiration for the kit can be found here. It really is such a pretty kit.

Since Wednesday is my day to post at the Craft Your Nest challenge blog, I decided to use this layout for my challenge as well. It's all about books and it was a fun one to come up with. I hope you will check it out. :)

Keeping it short today, but I will be back this Friday with a wedding layout :)

  5. Love the creativity of using those flags as arrows! I too loved going to the library as a child. It's such a shame that kids today (being bombarded with technological entertainment) are missing out on that.

  12. Very pretty layout, and clever use of the cut shapes to create the arrows. I love your tree house!

Thanks for your visit, and I'm glad you like my handmade paper - if you look closely at my blog header you'll see I used it in the photo montage. I love how well the gilding flakes worked, and am keen to do some more with this.

I'm thinking of doing some blog posts on making art from our rubbish! Watch this space...

    Happy WOYWW,

  17. I love this layout and yes, books are the perfect escape for me too. I was a huge reader ever since I was young. My mother used to complain about how often I wanted to go to the library. LOL!

  18. Love the layout...and I did get some summer reading in. I had such a hard time with those banners...no matter how careful I was, they tore something awful when I was trying to get them out of the paper.(and I wish they had a print on he back instead of white, and all those nubbies)

  24. What pretty colours and beautiful layout Mary Jo,
I adore books and took myself off at the tender age of 11 to join our local Library...I came out carrying 10 large heavy books and with an even bigger smile on my face.
I used to panic that I wouldn't be able to read all the books out there...I've since lightened up thankfully ;D
Thanks for sharing and popping over to my place earlier.
Have a fun packed week ~ Neesie #37
