Changes

So I was going to post a few lake photos today, but something happened yesterday in the world of scrapbooking that I wanted to talk about first.
The Two Peas in a Bucket scrapbook site is closing!
You can see the announcement *Here*.

Two Peas was the first scrapbook site I ever visited on-line back in 2004 and it really changed scrapbooking for me.
It was the first place I began sharing my layouts on-line.
I found a lot of great inspiration there and met some extremely wonderful women.
So it's kind of a bummer.
In the past eleven years I have seen several scrapbook websites with wonderful people close
Cropper's Cottage
Create My Keepsake
Scrap Diner
and Scrapgal.
But I will say this, I am grateful for Facebook.
At least I have been able to stay in contact with most of the women I have met on-line through the years that way.

And hopefully Paper Issues will be around a long time because I love it there! And love being on the design team.
I am also going to be checking out the message boards at Cocoa Daisy cause it looks like a lot of my Stashbusters challenge friends are migrating there to continue the challenges. We will see.
If you were a member of 2p's, where do you think you will hang out now?

Now for a few lake photos...
Four days and three nights with not a lot to do but swim, lay in a hammock, go out in the boat and eat. Yes, I felt pretty relaxed. :)
It really is pretty down there.

Evan has become pretty good at handling the kayak and he even gave Erin a few rides.

We loved riding in the boat. Especially when it meant going...
tubing. Evan and Erin loved it!
Plus, Erin caught her first fish!
Funny story. Evan is the avid fisherman, and on that day all of the other kids caught fish. He was getting pretty bummed he couldn't seem to catch one. But then thankfully he finally did and I think he caught seven total including the elusive catfish.
Erin also went water skiing for the first time...

and she had fun jumping off the platform.
Late dinners and bonfires with smores at night were great, too.
Kind of hard to come back home after that. :)

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Sad about TwoPeas but not a surprise to us really...there have been hints of it for quite some time.

  3. You certainly do looked 'chilled' in the photo, it is lovely! Such a shame about 2 Peas, it is always so sad when somewhere you love closes down. Glad you had a great few days away. Anne xx

  4. I was sad about 2Peas too, but sort of saw it coming with all the weirdness over there the last several months. I was hoping it wasn't true, or maybe they'd at least leave the message boards and galleries, take just the retail portion away. I always found the Peas to be very helpful, much less snooty or snarky than on other sites. I hope I find out where people migrate to! :)

LOVE the lake ... so lucky we get to go nearly every weekend. It's nice to have that relax time ... but then I always end up thinking about all the things I need to do at home, LOL! ;)

GREAT photo of you!! :) So glad you're still enjoying your summer!

  7. I was so bummed about Two Peas :( I *met* so many of my scrappy friends over there. I'm like Tanya I was hoping they would keep the message boards and gallery up too. I'm not sure where to go now...

What awesome lake photos! There really is just something so relaxing about being away like that, isn't there?

  9. Amazing pictures looks like a lot of fun! Glad you had a relaxing fun time!
I did not hang out at 2 ps but did shop there at times. I use to hang out at a busy scrapbook kit club site that I met a lot of scrappers and they had a store too I was bummed when they closed.
I could never find any if the same ladies that went to one place so I just started getting more involved in dt teams. Facebook helped a lot to reconnect with many.
Keep us posted on where everyone will be.
It is a bummer they are closing.

  10. Super fun lake photos! Makes me jealous that we are languishing in the heat here in FL. The lake looks so much more refreshing! I too will really miss 2Peas. It was also the first place I discovered when I was looking for inspiration in 2002. I'm looking into several other MB's right now but not sure where I will land quite yet. I haven't been super active on FB either but I've been getting more friend requests lately from MB friends to keep in touch, so I may be spending more time there. I'm going to find you on FB! :)

  11. I know, I was really sad about 2Peas as well. I never participated on the boards there, but I always loved seeing the inspiration from the Garden Girls.

I'm glad you had a nice family vacation! Looks like fun. :)

Looks like a lot of fun was had by all.
This is how it is at our cottage every weekend…minus little ones :( Mine are all grown up now.
I was so sad to hear about 2peas closing it happened so fast.
I have been a member there for over 5 years and a lurker before then.
I have signed up to "lilgik"'s sitehttp://feedyourcraft.boards.net she just started it and she is a fellow blogger :)

  13. It looks like an amazing trip to the lake! Jumping off that platform looks like tons of fun!

I thought of you when I heard about 2peas closing. I'm sorry that it closed, I hope you can find your friends on facebook - I felt so badly for everyone who lost their contacts there. I lurked there, but was never a member, so I didn't really "know" anyone there, but I am going to miss reading the boards!

  14. Looks like your family had a great time. We were at the beach when I heard about 2Peas. Not exactly a shocker, but sad all the same. I have layouts at scrapbooks.com, A Cherry On Top, and Studio Calico, but haven't a clue where I'll "go".
