So...

today is the anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on our country. It's something I know we will never forget.
This is my profile picture on Facebook right now. I took a high school trip to New York City in December of 1988, and we had such a great time. One of the highlights was taking a ferry ride over from Battery Park to the Statue of Liberty. My friend Linda took this photo of me on that ride. When I was going through my older photos a few years ago, I found it. This photo took on a whole new meaning for me. Events and time can really do that to a photo.

It was a happy time in my life. The events of that day, September 11th, 2001, can't take away those happy memories. But it does help me realize that life is precious and sometimes way too short. And it shouldn't be taken for granted.

I know I try not to ever take it for granted.

  1. It is a day that changed so many lives, it would be terrible if we ever forget the impact that the events of that dreadful day had on all of us. I too, try never to take anything for granted as a result too. Thank you Mary Jo for sharing this. Anne xx

Very true! I don't take life for granted either.
Very sad day for our country. My heart goes out to all of those who lost their lives and for the families.
    TFS!

  4. Still such a haunting day.....I was home sick from work and my husband at the time worked retail and he was home as well. I was sooo very grateful that my little family was all home together...Zachary was only about 10 months old.
